Upcoming Chickahominy River Tournament

Make plans to attend a CBAV benefit tournament held on the Chickahomimy River Sunday, August 24, 2008. Now that we've completed the restocking of the Chickahominy River, let's enjoy the great fishing that now exists. Click Here for Details!

Our 2007 fundraising event was held at The Place in Richmond with a Casino Night theme. We raised an amazing $16,000+ while having a great night of fun with friends and fellow anglers. We all came together and it worked! Much of that money, plus the $10,000 pledged by Bass Pro Shops was put into the purchase of over 110,000 largemouth bass fingerlings for the final phase of our three-year restocking of the Chickahominy River. These fish were stocked in early June by the biologists of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. This results of this three-year project have been excellent. From the tournament reports and angler talk, the Chick is back and teeming once again with largemouth bass. Thank you for your support.

The official Mission Statement of the Concerned Bass Anglers of Virginia:

The CBAVA wants to protect, conserve and improve bass fisheries by offering proactive solutions to known issues, acting as a representative liason between anglers, the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and other legislative groups.

The CBAVA will uphold its Mission Statement by working toward realizing the following goals:

  1. Purchasing largemouth bass for stocking troubled Virginia fisheries using a variety of fund raising activities.
  2. Recommending methods to protect and improve Virginia's fisheries to the VDGIF.
  3. Educating Virginia's anglers on how to better handle and release largemouth bass.

The CBAVA's immediate method of raising funds to purchase largemouth bass is via private donations from similarly concerned anglers and corporations, however, we are open to suggestions and plan on doing habitat restoration projects as needed around Virginia in the coming years.
